This means having freshly cleaned litter boxes with new litter, freshly cleaned carpets to take care of any pet stains or shed fur, odor-neutralizing air fresheners. Don’t overdo this, though. You don’t want to give the impression you’re masking odors. Thorough cleaning not only puts your best foot forward, but it’ll also impress potential buyers who might not be pet people.
Time Your Showings Carefully
One thing that will help with showings is to be aware of showing times where someone will be home to monitor the pet or have the animal crated so that it doesn’t leave the house, causing needless anxiety. Although you may have a terrific agent helping you to sell your house, your pets are still your responsibility. More importantly, should your pet get out, they’re more likely to respond to you calling them than a stranger. This is extremely important for your pet’s safety, so it’s definitely something to ignore.
Avoid Direct Interaction
Another important a part of showing your home while you’ve got pets is to keep your pets from being within the same area as potential buyers. While you would possibly have a dog that’s just a bundle of cuddles and only wants to like everyone, a possible buyer could be scared of dogs or cats more not want to be bothered. This also helps to guard your animals, because it ensures that they won’t accidentally get hurt if they startle a possible buyer or your pet getting accused of trying to attack them.

Disclose Your Pet Ownership
Something to keep in mind once you’re able to start showing your house is that you need to disclose the =that there are animals living on the property (and within the house, if they’re inside pets.) This not only lets potential buyers know that there could also be animals on the premises, but it also is a warning for those with severe pet allergies. A possible buyer who may have a severe allergy will know that there could be a risk in your home. It would be better if you lost that specific buyer than making them sick.
Get Some Help
If need be, consider calling a friend or relative who knows your pets to see if they’ll help watch them during showings. This may get the animals out of the house and provides you time to get things cleaned up before potential buyers arrive. If you don’t have anyone, consider asking your local vet to see if they can recommend a good boarding service for your pet.
