Repairs You Need To Make Before You List
Getting ready to list your home? It’s important to have a home that makes it easy to sell. Showing off the positive aspects of your home as well as repairing items that would stop buyers dead in their tracks can make a big difference in how fast you sell it. Here are 5 recommended repairs to make before selling your home.
Refresh walls with paint
A fresh coat of paint is one of the easiest and cost-effective ways to brighten up your house. This is something you may be able to do it yourself. Be sure to cover scratches and chips on the walls and update any accent walls with a neutral coat of paint.
Floors and tile
Having hardwood floors in the home is something that buyers absolutely love! Make sure they look their best by fixing scratches or dull areas. Consider replacing your carpet if it’s worn or stained. Also, don’t forget kitchen or bathroom tiles. Make dingy tile work look brand new by re-grouting.
Curb appeal makes a home quite inviting! Clean driveways, put flowers in pots if you don’t want to plant them, trim hedges and trees, fill in mulch and gravel. Show buyers your home outshines others by dressing up the outside to draw buyers inside.
Repair or replace fixtures.
Obvious repairs are a definite turnoff. If your faucet leaks or you have loose drawer handles fixing these minor issues can make a big difference to potential buyers who pay attention to details. Contrary to what we watch on HGTV and DIY Network, most buyers don’t want to update homes and prefer a house that is move-in ready. Repairing or replacing counter tops, updating the cabinets (try adding new hardware for a new look), and installing new faucets and sinks are investments that can pay off with a quicker sale.
