First Day of Fall: September 22
Virginia is an AWESOME place to enjoy the changing of the leaves along with its dazzling foliage, the cool crisp weather, foods that warm and comfort, fall festivals – all the things that make autumn so special in Hampton Roads!
Virginia has attractive places to get away and enjoy stunning foliage and eye-catching colors. You’re never too far away from a place to pick apples, enjoy harvest festivals, and take a hay ride while experiencing the cooler crisp weather that fall brings.
Even the trip to your destination will fascinate you with its roadways providing wondrous natural beauty along the way.
This time of year we also get to enjoy the fantastic flavors of autumn! Crops that have been harvested are now in the hands of some of the finest chefs in Virginia, and they intend to put on a memorable feast in some of Virginia’s finest restaurants.
Not too far away from Virginia Beach is Newport News Park. Their annual festival has been cancelled this year. However, Newport News Park has a lot of activities you can enjoy sucy as biking, hiking, picnicking, paddle boating, canoeing, and freshwater fishing. They have camping year round. Most of them have electrical hook-ups and grills. There are showering facilities with hot water and nearby restrooms.
My husband and I have biked on the gravel road leading to the Colonial National Historical Park, where there is a placard on the site of where George Washington’s headquarters were during the American Revolutionary War.
