About the Chesapeake Jubilee
The Chesapeake Jubilee is an annual event that celebrates the city of Chesapeake, Virginia. The festival began in 1983. As the city was reaching it’s 20th year anniversary, the Chesapeake Chamber of Commerce was looking for a way to celebrate this milestone event. Former mayor Marian Whitehurst was the first chairman, and the festival was initially held at Greenbrier Mall.
During the years participation and interest have grown. Many people from neighboring cities throughout Hampton Roads save the date to in order to enjoy all that the Jubilee has to offer.
The Jubilee is held yearly at the Chesapeake City Park during the spring. There’s so much to enjoy! There is a livestock show, live music, games and rides, food and, of course, fireworks are some highlights of the 3-day celebration.
This is an occasion you’ll find yourself waiting for with eager anticipation. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs!
